Our preschool program is a play- based learning site with an emphasis on the Arts and School Readiness. Living, Loving and Learning are the three elements in which we base our approach to accessible education. In addition to our approach to the Love of Learning, we care about our approach to LIVING! Families are our focus, and parents are encouraged to participate in our calendar activities. Kindness, honesty, communication, sharing, conflict solving, and manners are all emphasized. Making friends, trusting your teacher, feeling welcomed and loved make learning a pleasure. It all fits together! Preschool - $165.00 per week (5 Full Days)
What is Qualistar Early Learning? WSCC’S preschool is proud to be an Qualistar Early Learning site. Qualistar Early Learning is a statewide effort to elevate the standards of early childhood education- far above the criteria currently in place by Colorado Department of Human Services. WSCC is now a Qualistar 3 rated program.
Here are some things that were said about our program after receiving our first quality rating evaluation:
Lincoln and Steele ElementaryBecause of the close proximity of these two schools, we are able to provide transportation. About our TeachersStephanie Brandt, our head teacher, has been with the Center since early in 2002. She is currently completing her Behavioral Science Degree at Metro. By the end of this year, she will have completed her Director Qualified and ECE training at Red Rocks Community College, and is committed to at least two more years in our preschool upon finishing her degree. In addition, she stays current with 45 hours of ECE training every year. Her gentle, fun, and intelligent approach to teaching is what the WSCC preschool is all about.
All of our teachers are current in FIRST AID and CPR and complete 45 hours of various ECE training throughout each year. About the DirectorMartha Horstman-Evans has been involved with the Center since 1991. After completing a Fine Arts Degree from Webster University, Martha lived in New York as a performer, writer and teacher. Martha taught Creative Drama in the inner-city New York Public Schools. Here in Denver, she came to the Children’s Program at the Center after creating the award winning “Character Education through the Dramatic Arts” for Slavens School, grade 1-8. Martha has also taught Drama at Steele Elementary as well as several Cherry Creek Schools.

SUMMERVILLESummer Day Camp for ages 6-11 Open end of May-August
Remember the Good ‘ol days, when summer lasted forever? That’s the kind of atmosphere we strive for in “Summerville”! We swim at Washington Park and Congress Park and have a field trip every Friday. Arts, Crafts, Drama and Dance fill our days. Lemonade Stands, Car Washes, and Bake Sales teach us entrepreneurship and give us extra barbeque money! Bowling, The Fox Theatre, the Planetarium, Funtastic Fun and lots of other places expect us. Crawdad fishin’ , boat races, and pajama days keep us in the mood. When it’s too hot for the outdoors, or it’s raining, we have the air-conditioned GRAND HALL for fun and games. We award the Spirit Stick three times a summer, to those who show qualities that we admire- like humor, friendliness and honesty. But most of all, we make great friends that we look forward to seeing year after year.
Camp does not exceed 25 in enrollment, which allows us to give lots of personal attention and family service. See you there!
