COMMUNITY PROGRAMS

Washington Street Community Center (WSCC) has programs for all ages, abilities, and interests. In addition to a quality children's programs; WSCC hosts a robust Program for Older Adults; including socialization, fitness, and education opportunities for all! In addition to community meals, educational presentations, and cooking classes, we partner with other organizations to create a diverse schedule of fitness, networking, and support groups.

Membership is optional, but includes discounted meals (Community Dinner and Senior Lunch), two complimentary Community Dinner tickets, member ticket rate for all WSCC events, and discounts on selected programs offered by our partners.

PROGRAMS FOR OLDER ADULTS

​WSCC's Program for Older Adults has been thriving for over 50 years. We offer a weekly luncheon (every Tuesday at noon) with special guest speakers, a monthly Active Minds presentation, monthly educational field trip, fitness, health clinics, and volunteer opportunities.

COMMUNITY KITCHEN/MEALS

 

WSCC's Community Meals provide an opportunity for nutrition, socialization and volunteerism for all! Join us for a meal or volunteer in our Community Kitchen! Increase your nutritional knowledge, learn a new cooking skill/recipe, and socialize!

Audience and Lecturer

SHARED COMMUNITY SPACE

​

WSCC is proud to share our community space for your one-time event or weekly/monthly gathering! As a not-for-profit organization, your rental fee is used to provide year-round community resources and affordable rentals to non-profits providing a service to the community! Discounts available to members of the community center, non-profit groups, and free public events.

WSCC partners with non-profit and community service organizations to bring affordable and diverse fitness opportunities to our community!

GROUP EXCURSIONS

At WSCC, we offer opportunities to explore Denver in a group setting. Our ROAD Trips (Retired Older Adult Daytrips) focus on lifetime learning and socialization with food and transportation included. Dates vary.

NUTRITION

At WSCC, we believe in the power of sharing a well-balanced meal with others. We provide weekly luncheons, monthly Community Dinners; as well as the opportunity to increase nutritional knowledge, practice cooking skills and share recipes at Community Kitchen.

HEALTH CARE

​​

WSCC has partnered with the Visting Nurse Association to bring convenient health clinics to our community, which include health screening, nail care, blood pressure and blood sugar checks.

​

2nd Wednesday of the month - appointment required.

VOLUNTEERISM

WSCC has been built on a tradition of volunteering, and volunteerism continues to be a cornerstone of our program for older adults. 

​

COME VOLUNTEER WITH US! 

TRANSPORTATION 

​​

The Center is located five blocks West of the #12 RTD bus route and 0.7 miles East of the I-25 and Broadway light rail station. Attendees may also use private transportation or RTD’s Access-A-Ride service. Limited provision for transportation is available through the Center for $5 round trip.
